Marguerite is the beautiful heroine of Gounod's opera "Faust" (1859).

Depicted here pondering "He loves me, yes - he loves me, no". A very good quality 19th century gilt bronze sculpture by the listed French artist Gaudez.

Extremely fine detailing can be seen in every aspect of this piece from the petals of the flower, her hair and fingers to the folds and hem of her gown.
